Press releases

The Press chip filters the feed to company press releases — the announcements companies put out directly, often ahead of or alongside a formal filing. They're frequently the first version of a story to hit the tape, which is exactly why they move stocks.

What shows up

Press releases cover the news a company wants out fast:

  • Mergers and acquisitions — a deal to buy, be bought, or merge.
  • Offerings — raising capital by selling new shares or debt, which can pressure the stock.
  • Dividends — a new payout, a raise, a cut, or a suspension.
  • Leadership changes — a new chief executive or chief financial officer, or a sudden departure.
  • Clinical results — trial readouts for biotech and pharma names, where a single line can double or halve a stock.

Why they move prices

A press release is the company speaking in its own words, usually with the headline detail up front. Earnings, a buyout, or a positive trial readout can reprice a stock in seconds, well before the matching SEC filing is parsed and circulated. Because SecBot reads the release as it posts, scores it, and summarizes what's in it, you see the substance without wading through the boilerplate around it.

TIP

Press and SEC often describe the same event from two angles — a release announcing a deal, then the 8-K that formalizes it. Seeing both in one feed tells you a story is real, not just a headline.

Sentiment matters a lot here. An offering reads bearish for existing holders even when the company frames it as growth, and SecBot's read will flag that. Lean on the Bearish toggle when you want to catch the announcements that quietly work against the share price.
