Command reference
The SecBot bot on Telegram, @SecBotAlertsBot, does one job: it delivers your alerts as direct messages. It has seven commands, all for managing that connection. Everything else — your tickers, your alert rules, quiet hours — is set up on the website.
The bot only works in a private chat with you. If you add it to a group, it replies that it only works in private chat and ignores the rest.
All commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/start | Welcome message with the three setup steps. |
/link CODE | Connects this Telegram account to your SecBot account using the 6-character code from the website. |
/unlink | Disconnects your Telegram account. Alerts stop until you link again. |
/status | Shows the linked account, whether your subscription is active, and whether alerts are muted. |
/mute | Pauses all alert DMs. |
/unmute | Resumes alert DMs. |
/help | Lists the commands and a short setup guide. |
/start, /help and /link work for anyone. The others need a linked account with an active subscription. If you're not linked, the bot tells you how to link. If your subscription has run out, it points you to secbot.trade to subscribe.
/link
Get your code on the website: open Watchlist, go to the Telegram tab, and click Generate Link Code. The site shows the full command, for example /link AB12CD. Copy it and send it to the bot.
- The code expires 5 minutes after you generate it. If it runs out, generate a new one.
- On success the bot replies with the account it linked to.
- Too many wrong codes in a short time and the bot makes you wait before trying again. After repeated failures it blocks new attempts for 30 minutes.
/mute and /unmute
/mute stops alert DMs from arriving without touching any of your rules. While you're muted, matched alerts are logged as muted in your alert log and are not sent later. /unmute turns delivery back on from that point.
Muting only affects Telegram. If you also get the email digest, that keeps arriving.
/unlink
Unlinking disconnects the bot from your SecBot account and clears any mute. To reconnect, generate a fresh code and send /link again. You can also unlink from the website with Unlink Telegram on the Watchlist page's Telegram tab.
Not getting alerts?
Send /status first. It shows in one message whether you're linked, subscribed, and unmuted. If all three look right, check your alert rules on the website. See FAQ — alerts.
