Institutions

Institutions turns 13F filings into a read on what the big funds own, what they're buying, and where they agree with company insiders. SecBot tracks a universe of 550+ funds, re-ranked each quarter, and every fund has its own public page.

The Institutions pageWhat the big funds own, buy and sell, quarter by quarter.

Which quarter you're seeing

13F positions are as of quarter-end and filed up to 45 days later. The default quarter is the newest one whose 13F deadline has passed, or a newer one once at least half of tracked fund families have filed. 13F value means reported long U.S. equity, not total AUM. New 13F filings are picked up within seconds of hitting EDGAR, with a catch-up every 6 hours.

Quarter at a glance

Cards for Funds tracked, Combined long value, Top consensus buy and Confluence signals, with an AS OF {quarter} byline, the number of funds filed and coverage.

The four tabs

  • Consensus: Most owned (top 12 by combined long value, with holder count; options excluded) and Smart money is buying (top 12 tickers opened or added by 2+ funds, with $ added and fund pills).
  • Funds: search plus category pills All, Value, Activist, Quant, Family Office, Mega-Passive, Sovereign, Asset Manager. 60 per page, sorted by 13F value; each row shows positions, quarters tracked, a 13F-value sparkline and value.
  • Compare: pick 2-5 funds for an Overlap matrix of up to 60 rows. Each cell is that fund's position as a % of its 13F value.
  • Confluence: where funds and insiders agree. Window 30D / 90D / 180D (default 90). The score runs 0-100, shown as a /10 meter, built from institution activity (up to 30: tracked funds that opened or added the position, with extra weight for top-tier managers), institutional dollars added (up to 10), insider buying (up to 35: buyer count plus a C-suite bonus), insider dollars bought (up to 10), a +15 agreement bonus when both sides are buying, and a −15 penalty when insiders sell more than 2× what they buy while funds accumulate. Only open-market insider buys outside 10b5-1 plans count. The top 50 are shown.

Confluence verdicts:

  • Conviction: both sides buying
  • Institutions only / Insider only
  • Divergent: insiders selling more than 2× their buying while funds accumulate
  • Scores of 40+ sit in the Conviction zone.

TIP

Start in Confluence and filter your attention to the Conviction zone. Funds and insiders buying the same name is a stronger read than either one alone.

Fund pages

Each fund page (/institution/<fund-name>) is fully public:

  • Header with CIK (links to EDGAR), quarter, filed date, 13F long value, Positions, Category, Quarters tracked and a Size rank gauge ("#N of M by 13F value").
  • Snapshot: top-N weight, new positions, exits.
  • 13F value by quarter bars.
  • Top holdings — {q}: up to 100 rows with Longs / Puts / Calls pills and search. Columns Ticker, Issuer, Weight, Value, Shares and Since {q} (return since quarter end).
  • Option positions: top 50 with notional.
  • Quarterly changes — {q} vs {prev}: up to 200 rows, largest dollar moves first.
  • Conviction over time: the weight of the current top-10 holdings by quarter.

Change labels: NEW (opened), 2×+ (+100% or more), ADD (+25% or more), TRIM (−25% or less), NEAR EXIT (−75% or less), EXIT (closed).

The hub tabs are blurred for non-subscribers. Funds, Compare and Confluence need sign-in, Consensus dollar figures are hidden, and Confluence shows the full breakdown only for the top 3 signals. Fund pages stay public. See Plans & access.
