Narratives
Narratives is SecBot's morning read on the themes the market is trading right now. Each theme comes with the stocks that have already run and the related names that haven't caught up yet, so you can see both sides of a story at once.
Each theme with the names that ran and the ones still lagging.
What gets published
Each trading morning, from about 8:00 ET, SecBot publishes the day's active market narratives, typically 4 to 8 of them. Every narrative is anchored to a recent catalyst from the last 24 to 72 hours.
- Every figure on the page is computed from price and quant data.
- Tickers that can't be verified are dropped.
- The header shows As of {date} plus counts of running narratives, leaders and laggards.
- Narratives are ordered by STRENGTH, a 0-100 bar, strongest first. Strength is the average composite quant score of the theme's leaders, rescaled so 50 is average: the higher it is, the better those leaders rank against other stocks on 6-month momentum, forward P/E, estimate revisions and low volatility.
Leaders and laggards
Each narrative splits its stocks into two groups. A narrative needs at least one of each.
- LEADERS — already moved: names with a 3-month return of +12% or more.
- LAGGARDS — room to catch up: names with a 3-month return between −20% and +10% that also sit at least 10 points behind the leaders' median.
- Names that fall between the two groups aren't shown.
- GAP (laggards only) is the leaders' median 3-month return minus that laggard's 3-month return. A bigger gap means more distance to the leaders.
Reading a card
- Lifecycle stage: EMERGING, RUNNING, PEAKING or FADING.
- Day N: how many daily runs this theme has appeared in.
- A headline and thesis explaining the story.
- For each stock: ticker, company, a sparkline of roughly the last 30 closes, 3-month %, 5D %, a cap-size chip and, for laggards, the GAP.
- Risk chips flag what could go wrong: overbought (RSI above 75), oversold-bounce (RSI below 30), elevated-vol (30-day volatility in the top 20% of its past year), weak-quant (composite quant score below −30), below-200dma and downtrend (down more than 15% over 3 months).
- Click a laggard to expand a "why it could catch up" note.
- The CATALYST summary explains what set the theme off, with source links.
TIP
A laggard with a wide GAP and no risk chips is a cleaner catch-up candidate than one flagged downtrend or weak-quant. Check the lifecycle stage too: a theme that's PEAKING or FADING may have less room left for laggards to follow.
Previous reports
The Previous reports archive lists past days, 20 per page with Load more. Each row shows the date, the narrative count and the top 3 themes, and each past day has its own page at /narratives/<date>. Looking back over a few days shows which themes kept running and which faded.
